At 8 p.m., "Ghost Whisperer" scared 8.6 million. NBC's "Law & Order" ran second with 6.3 million viewers. A repeat of ABC's "FlashForward," which premiered Thursday, ran third with 4.5 million viewers.
At 9, "Medium" pulled in 8.8 million fans, according to preliminary numbers released this morning. A distant second was NBC's "Dateline" on Michael Jackson with 5.8 million viewers. ABC repeated the premieres of "Modern Family" (4.3 million) and "Cougar Town" (4.2 million).
At 10, CBS had the biggest audience with "Numb3rs" drawing 7.9 million. ABC's "20/20" attracted 7.1 million, but was more popular in the 18-to-49 age group. "The Jay Leno Show" amused 5.7 million for NBC.
It was a rough night for Fox: The sitcom "Brothers" entertained just 2.8 million, and "Dollhouse" returned to find only 2.6 million fans.
On The CW, "Smallville" switched to Fridays and found 2.5 million admirers. (Might it be better to air that show earlier in the week?) A repeat of "America's Next Top Model" pulled in 1.2 million.
For the night, CBS averaged 8.4 million viewers in prime time. I have preliminary numbers for these broadcast networks: NBC with 5.9 million, ABC with 5.3 million, Fox with 2.7 million and The CW with 1.8 million.
